Fairytales: From the Brothers Grimm: For Viola, Violoncello, and Contrabass 1987-8
This score was inspired by Grimm’s Fairy Tales. This could be good for high school music teachers who want to have something more creative and fun to play with their students. This is similar to playing Peter and the Wolf in an orchestra. It’s not quite as difficult, but it brings nostalgia from thinking about the stories. It could be something to do when there a pop concert, or just some free time. Since it is originally for a trio ,this could be an extra credit assignment for a few students as well. The music is too advanced for elementary or middle schoolers, but high school orchestras could play it fairly easily. Using the recording of this score could be used in an english or mythology class, if the tales themselves were being studied as a way to incorporate other media into the classroom.
